The War of the Gods, Harmageddon

Ignis could endure no more. Greatly disaffected by Arche’s indifference, Ignis determined to become a god himself and cleanse the world of these absurdities. Ignis created 11 acolytes by gathering the souls of the dead trapped in Mitanni and eventually started the War of the Gods, Harmageddon, by launching an attack on Arche.

The sound of the gods’ weapons clashing in the sky rang out through the heavens and the earth, and in the aftermath the ground shook in Harran and lava again erupted from the mountains. Ignis struck at Arche with all of his might, but she avoided the blow, and his weapon fell on the continent, fissuring the ground like a spiderweb, causing an earthquake and creating the chasm called Harran’s Scars. The great power with which Ignis struck the ground was such that it warped reality itself, creating a path to the demon realm Mitanni.

This caused countless demons who submitted to Ignis to pour into the continent through Harran’s Scars. They slaughtered all living things in their sight indiscriminately, offering the souls to Ignis as a sacrifice, greatly increasing his power and that of his 11 acolytes. Arche would not fall easily, but as Ignis’s power increased from the continuous sacrifices, it was unclear how long she would be able to continue her resistance.

Meanwhile, the Klayan, who were thrown into disorder by these newly encountered demons after the great earthquake, realized that what had occurred was due to a War of the Gods in Heaven. Recognizing their dire situation, the Klayan tribes ceased their conflict with each other and held their first gathering of all tribal leaders in order to prepare countermeasures. The Klayan leaders, knowing well that Arche’s defeat would mean the extermination of their people, determined after much consideration that all Klayan would participate in Harmageddon on the side of Arche.

United, the Klayan aimed their weapons toward the demons and the clash between the two forces truly began. Being far behind the demons in physical prowess, it was inevitable that the Klayan would face many casualties, and there was even a sense of crisis that they may be totally annihilated. However, the special tenacity of the Klayan allowed them to endure repeated demon attacks, and they were successful in dragging these unfavorable circumstances into a protracted war. In this process, every Klayan contributed in their own way. Some wielded weapons directly, some mined the material for those weapons, and some produced supplies. It was total war, with all the Klayan of the continent participating.

With robust supplies and the strategy of capable leadership, the Klayan effort gradually began to bend towards victory. Their continued losses caused the demons to lose their will to fight and eventually to flee back to the demon realm. Not wanting to lose their momentum, the Klayan pursued the demons all the way to Harran’s Scars. However, by then the demons had already disappeared into their realm. The demon realm Mitanni was of a different dimension from the continent, and so the Klayan could physically pursue the demons no further.

Although total extermination was not possible, the retreat of the demons led to a halt of soul sacrifices to Ignis's army. Hence, the acolytes of Ignis gradually lost their power and began to be destroyed by Arche. In this way, Arche came to have the advantage in the War of the Gods. However, Arche had given Ignis abilities such that she no longer had the power to completely defeat him alone. His disadvantage notwithstanding, Ignis continued resisting Arche. Harmageddon, at times seemingly about to end, continued on. Ignis's continued struggles caused natural disasters which the Klayan had no choice but to endure.

In response, the 27 heroes of the Klayan, who commanded the tribes in every field, gathered together to sacrifice themselves in order to end the war. They headed toward the north of the continent for ten days, then climbed mountains which reached above the clouds for ten more, finally arriving at the top of the White Eagle Mountains, the land closest to the heavens. At the summit, there was a great lake of boiling lava. Overcoming their fear, the 27 heroes threw themselves in.

The souls of these heroes leapt from their flaming and melted bodies and rose to the sky to go after Ignis, who was locked in battle with Arche. These heroes attacked Ignis relentlessly until he was exhausted and then further until he was bound and immobile. Meanwhile, Arche opened the eternal pit, Abgrund. Arche thrust the paralyzed Ignis along with the souls of the heroes all together into the deep abyss and sealed Abgrund, thus ending the War of the Gods.
